Warning: The Office Extensibility Library failed to load

Overview

When starting Excel with Velixo NX, the following message is displayed in the Velixo NX side panel:

Velixo

The Office Extensibility Library failed to load.

Please reload the add-in by right-clicking this panel and pressing 'refresh', 'reload' or 'reload frame'.

Possible Cause - Excel has lost contact with the add-in

This is a known Microsoft issue that occasionally happens with Office for Mac, Office Online, or Office for Windows.

Resolution

By reloading the Velixo add-in, you can typically force Excel re-try to load the Microsoft Office Extensibility Library that the add-in requires.

Method 1

First of all, completely shutting down all instances of Excel and then re-starting Excel should work for all editions.

Method 2

Alternately, the methods used to do this vary slightly depending upon the edition and version of Excel.

Excel for Mac or Excel Online

You can try right clicking within the Velixo NX panel and choosing refresh, reload, or reload frame (the exact wording can vary from version to version).

Excel for Windows

You can click the left-pointing arrow in the upper right corner of the Velixo NX side panel, and select Reload:

Possible Cause - internet outage

As with any web-based tool, occasional internet outages can affect the ability to access the Microsoft Store and its related add-ins.

Workaround

The only true resolution is to wait until the internet outage is resolved.

In the meantime, if you can access a VPN (virtual private network) which is based in a location that is *not* impacted by the internet outage, access to the Microsoft Store and its related products can be achieved.
