Understanding Acumatica Tenants, Companies, and Branches

Applies to:

  • Velixo NX
  • Velixo Classic
  • Acumatica, Cegid, MYOB

Description

Let's take a look an example Acumatica configuration and discuss some important terminology when discussing Velixo's connection to Acumatica.

Note: This information applies to Acumatica 2018 R1 and higher.

Each Velixo connection can access data from a single Acumatica Tenant. In this example, if we wanted to access data from both Tenants, we would need to create a Velixo connection for each.

An Acumatica Tenant will contain one or more Companies.

Each Company may contain one or more Branches. A branch is a logical entity which can represent physical locations of a company, such as the company’s offices, departments, etc. All branches within a Company share the Company's base currency and chart of accounts.

Many Velixo functions allow you to filter by one or more branches. To retrieve all data from Company 1 above (for example), would require filtering on all three of the branches within that company. Velixo's BRANCHLIST function can be helpful in determining the branches in a specified company.

When configuring a company within Acumatica, we have three options:

If a company is created with the option of Without Branches, the company will still contain a virtual branch that can be used to filter your Velixo functions on a specific company.
